Lunches & dinners | Luxembourg

After summer, my social life had been pretty uneventful. Recently there have been a couple of occasions when I got to get out with friends and my family.

Roma

A couple of weeks ago I invited my family to celebrate my birthday at Roma, a very good Italian restaurant in Luxembourg City.

I thoroughly enjoyed these spaghetti with tomato sauce.

This original variation of tiramisu was a good choice too.

The rare times that I have eaten at Roma have always been great. And I was happy that my family liked the restaurant as well.

Le Verzino

After travelling for two weeks together in July/August, D and I took a long break from each other but we caught up the other day and had lunch at Le Verzino in Pétange. I had their goat cheese salad (minus the bacon). D shared a bit of his pizza and it was super delicious. I'd eat there again.

Mama Loves You

Another goat cheese salad, this time at Mama Loves You. Very yummy but I couldn't finish all of it.

L'Annexe

The idea for this blogger dinner came up around the beginning of the year but it only materialised this week. Joel and I went to L'Annexe, a place that I had heard about a lot but never tried. I found the dishes very original.

Is the plate too large or is the dish (cauliflower waffle) too small?

The vegetable curry served on wild rice had the right amount of spice and flavour. A true delight!

For dessert I had the crème brûlée au praliné. Just a perfect way to end this three-course dinner.

Joel and I - as you can see, I look tired with bags under my eyes while he looks in top form! We had some interesting discussions. While his blog is very personal, it is true that I tend to only share the good moments of my life on mine. But like everyone, I do have struggles, I get POed, I experience disappointments. Just because I don't write about such aspects, doesn't mean that I'm fake...

Le Perroquet

Most people I know in Luxembourg have tried Le Perroquet, a restaurant that specialises in Portuguese and Brazilian cuisine. This was the first time I ate there.

Right away I knew that I wanted to have the bacalhau à Zé do Pipo. It was amazing. And I didn't feel guilty that it came with lots of mayonnaise.

Another bacalhau variation: à Brás.

I didn't want to miss out on the pudding either. Needless to say that I didn't eat dinner after this huge lunch!

  12. Anouk,
It's so fun to see you in the rare photo! Anyway, the food looks beautiful as always and I'm dying over that Brazilian dish with the olives and potato chips! I want to eat that now. I love that you celebrate your birthday with a wonderful dinner with your family... this is my idea of heaven. I tend to omit the disappointments or low experiences in my life too when blogging, but its your blog and you can express yourself however you want!

  21. The creme brûlée looks absolutely delicious! Also, I absolutely don't think not sharing some of the less shiny moments makes you 'fake', everyone blogs in a different way and, like you, I prefer to keep things positive and focus/share the brighter, happier moments :)
