From Poznań I went on two more day trips. One was to Gniezno which is half an hour / one hour train's ride away. When I got there it was quite windy and there weren't many people about. Around the main square they were setting up terraces for warmer days. I visited the Cathedral and wandered around the streets. At one point it got icy cold and it started drizzling. That's when I decided to head back to Poznań.
Kórnik is very close to Poznań (20 minutes bus ride) and its main attraction is its castle. On the bus I met the director of the Institute of Dendrology as the largest arboretum in Poland (with thousands of species) is right next to the castle. He showed me around the park and he explained the history behind the castle and the family that used to own it. Unfortunately I didn't take any photos of the trees and the beautiful blossoms as I was too immersed in our conversation. Afterwards I visited the inside of the castle which had a very romantic feel to it. I didn't have enough złotys to pay for the entrance but the lady at the reception kindly charged me a student ticket (to help me) and that's how I got in.
