CRASH BOOM BANG! | LUXEMBOURG

Yesterday I didn't get to spend much time at home. I went to the gym, then out to Luxembourg City to meet a friend. As the Museum Festival (free entrance to 44 museums in Luxembourg, the country) was on, we visited the Musée d'Histoire de la Ville de Luxembourg. I hadn't been there since 2005 or so... We saw The Luxembourg Story exhibition. I'm already looking forward to their upcoming Luxembourg Street Photography exhibition, which will be displayed in October.

My friend and I hadn't eaten any lunch and we were looking for food at 5 pm. Forget it unless you want to eat at the golden arches or Chi-Chi's. Namur had already closed their kitchen and we could only get hold of a heated quiche at Oberweis...

After this very late lunch, I went to Glacis (a car park in the city) to pick up my friend K. As I was driving around to find her, the car in front of me got hit by another car that had been speeding straight and ignored the give way to the right rule. I don't remember hearing the crash but I saw it in slow motion. There was smoke and as I got closer to the car ahead of me, I saw the two passengers who had shock written all over their faces and their car's airbags had gone off. Wow. Had I got to there a few seconds earlier, I could have been the one with a crashed car!

I got hold of K and I was wondering, whether I should identify myself as a witness but as it was quite clear who had been coming from where and as there had been pedestrian witnesses, we decided to drive off. Together we went to AM's (secondary school friend) to celebrate her birthday in her refurbished house. I was amazed by her huge living room, which is larger than a two bedroom apartment and comes with a massive open kitchen and a fireplace. It felt like a scene from the Hollywood Hills. There was so much food, I didn't capture all of it as I was too busy stuffing myself. There were cheese and salmon puff pastry bites, avocado and beetroot hors d'oeuvres, salty cakes, four kinds of pasta, and tons of desserts...

Saturday was busy, therefore I'm taking it easy today! I got a short week ahead as I will be leaving for Manchester on Thursday.

  14. Anouk,
Sounds like an eventful day. I was recently in a car accident with my neighbor of all people, which also left me in shock how vulnerable we are driving in cars. There was minor damage, and it's okay, but still unsettling.

Anyway, the food looks lovely. That cake!! Yum!

It's good to take it easy after a long busy day right?
