Yesterday my mum and I went to Brussels for a couple of hours. The trip was inspired by a recent post I had read on Suze's blog. It was a brief but fun excursion. I always enjoy spending time in Belgium's capital city.
I've been a fan of Kyle McLachlan ever since I've seen him in Blue Velvet. I'm already eagerly anticipating the upcoming Twin Peaks episodes.
While we were walking through the Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert, my mum pointed out this restaurant. We had a brief look at the menu and decided to give it a try.
As we stepped in, I immediately felt as if we had travelled back in time. I loved the art deco setting and authentic feel.
We then realised that Taverne du Passage is a bib gourmand restaurant, which instantly raised our expectations. While no one greeted or seated us, we just helped ourselves. Once we had got hold of a waiter (a very charming one I must say!), everything went smoothly.
I had the saumon à l'unilatérale.
My mum ordered mussels.
Of course I had to have chips.
The lunch was truly wonderful because of the great food, setting and service. Also, I don't often eat out with my mum (just the two of us), let alone abroad, so it was a bit of a special occasion.
As you may have noticed, I have changed the name of my blog. As this is a (very) personal blog, I feel that my first name is more appropriate as a title. As the dot com version was already taken, I decided to go for dot co, which I quite like as it makes the address even shorter. I was a bit nervous about the change as I had never done it before (scared to lose my old posts) but luckily it went well!
