Sakura Garden | Dippach

Yesterday we celebrated Mothers Day in Luxembourg. My family and I had lunch at Sakura Garden, a Chinese-Japanese restaurant in Dippach.

I don't know how my parents discovered this restaurant but now it's one of their favourites and they eat there at least once a week. My aunt and uncle go there too and my sister occasionally has their food delivered to her house.

Food-wise we had two main options: à la carte or all you can eat buffet. We chose the latter. I had some sushis as a starter. They were very fresh and delicious.

My main course from the buffet was fried noodles with fried shrimps and fish. A very fried lunch but that's what you will find at most Chinese restaurants in Luxembourg. They have adapted their cuisine to the local taste.

Not sure that my dessert was very Chinese... another local adaptation I guess! A dame blanche ice cream is always a nice treat though.

It was a fun Mothers Day. In a couple of days it will be my mum's birthday and more celebrations will follow.

I want to try this place since long, but I am not a fan of all you can eat buffet - I have the feeling they are a bit cheap sometimes. But great to know it was good! So it will be my next step :)

  5. Yes, it's the same thing over here except I don't find that most things are fried, except for appetisers like dim sum etc. I noticed in America that Chinese food was overly sweet and they loved to add artificial pineapple juice to everything!

  11. Most of the international restaurants tend to adapt their cuisine to the local taste here too. The dessert looks very nice. We celebrate Mothers Day here on 8th March.

  14. Looks like a lovely Mother's Day lunch. Happy early birthday to your mum. Chinese people traditionally don't really have dessert and mostly finish our meals off with fruit.
