Sunset at Griffith Observatory | Los Angeles

Today's highlight was a visit to the Griffith Observatory. It's hard to believe that Rebel Without a Cause with James Dean and Natalie Wood was filmed here in 1955! I had visited twice before but I think that the exhibit has been updated because some things seemed different. There were plenty of people, including school children. It's Memorial Day weekend and I think that many Americans are visiting LA for the weekend as I could see cars with number plates from other states.

I got to the Observatory before sunset and the sun was really intense. After it got chilly very quickly though. I had booked a table at Tres by José Andrés but I cancelled the reservation because I couldn't be bothered to dress up for dinner.

Instead I went to The Cheesecake Factory at The Grove. I was eating at the bar and I was watching a basketball press conference on TV. I discovered or rather, learned about the existence of Kevin Love, a very handsome player. It was love at first sight, haha. I'm not a fan of men with beards but in this case, I'm making an exception. Google him and tell me what you think. After dinner I went for drive around Sunset and Hollywood Boulevard.

You can see the Hollywood sign (top right).

  10. so pretty! I love it there!

  11. I love Griffith, but again, missed out on seeing it during the day. Nighttime was particularly magical but I was very letdown that the Hollywood sign wasn't lit up. I did wait in line to look through the telescope, that was pretty awesome except I wasn't thrilled with the view. I expected it to be more clearer, then again it could have been my poor eyesight too!

  12. Awww, as a big fan of men with beards I find him very CUTE! I'd love to pay a visit to the observatory one day!
