Lunch at Namur | Luxembourg

Yesterday, I met with A for lunch. This time we opted for Namur, one of the oldest tea rooms in Luxembourg. It really put my recent visit to Ladurée into perspective. Namur may not have the fancy setting that Ladurée does, but it certainly offers better value for money: for half the price you get twice the amount of great quality food. The place wasn't too crowded and the service was very pleasant and efficient as well. I had a mushroom omelette which came with salad and chips.

For dessert I picked this red fruit cake, which was very delicious.

After Namur, I went for a drink and ice cream to Oberweis, another tea room in the city centre. They also offer wonderful food but the place gets extremely busy, especially on Saturday afternoons.

  7. Sounds like a much better experience than the one you had at Ladurée. For me, the quality of the food usually wins out over the setting.

  17. More food porn! I've never had the chance to dine at Laduree, only the standard macaron really. But I expected it to be on the $$$. I'd still like to experience it once in my lifetime, though I suspect if I were in your town, I'd opt for Namur instead. That red fruit cake looks delish.

I went couple of times to the Namur near the station and liked it - as you said nothing too fancy. I also use Namur each and every time I have to do a catering for the office - prices are reasonable and quality very good. I used them also for the breakfast of my wedding before the ceremony and everybody was happy. I find on the other side Oberweis definitely overpriced.

  19. Having in mind they offer better food for half price, I'd have preferred Namur instead of Ladurée too. I haven't had macarons for a very long time.
