Lunch at Ladurée | Luxembourg

Ladurée recently changed location in Luxembourg City, moving their store to a bigger place, which now also includes a tea room. Yesterday I was looking for somewhere to have lunch. My friend A and I spontaneously decided to pop into the new Ladurée.

I found the setting very nice; I mean, everything was still new.

As you can see, the selection was very good but more on the pricier side.

After we had ordered, I asked for a coffee as well. The waitress responded, "yes, maybe after." I said, "No, now."

I had ordered the Oeuf mollet (21 EUR), which was described as soft-boiled egg, Scottish smoked salmon, avocado, toast. When the meal was served, I thought, 'are you kidding me?' followed by 'but I wasn't going to count calories today!' It would have been more correct to say, soft-boiled egg, pieces of Scottish smoked salmon, thin slice of avocado, croutons. I mean, where was the toast?

The chips (8 for 7 EUR) looked nice but were unfortunately undercooked.

After our main course, we each ordered a macaron and I had an espresso.

Apart from the coffee misunderstanding, the service was alright. We didn't have to wait too long for our various orders and they provided the bill right after we had asked for it. We almost sat there for three hours but we weren't pushed to order or to leave, even though there was a very large queue waiting to be seated.

I would certainly consider going back for afternoon tea or coffee as their desserts looked very tempting. I still love their macarons and I will continue to buy them from Ladurée. It's less likely that I will go back for a meal though but we'll see.

  1. The decor in this place is absolutely stunning! It's a shame the chips were undercooked but the macaroon looks so yummy

  8. The setting is just gorgeous. Bummer that the food was lacking. That is exactly what has been keeping me from dining at the Laduree in NYC. At least their macarons never disappoint.

  13. The interior is so beautiful! I love the macarons from there but I don't think the food is worth the prices. I only ate there once when I was in London and also thought it was overpriced

  22. The restaurant itself looks beautiful and chic, but I'm with you on the meal... I probably would go there for dessert only, not expecting the food to be anything that special (especially with all the other delicious options around you) What pretty place settings though!
