Yesterday evening I went to Esch Belval once again. I met for dinner with D, C, K and her friend V. Although D is convinced that Dimmi Si in Esch is not as good as the one in Niederkorn, we ended up there. I had a mushroom pizza and it was not too bad.
The true reason why we met up was to see David Duchovny's concert at the Rockhal Club. I have never been a fan of his, nor watched The X-Files (I may have seen one episode in the 90s but that was it).
Last year D kept telling me that I should watch Californication because it was so funny and that he kind of modelled his life after David Duchovny's character, Hank Moody. I followed his advice and it turned out that I really liked the show. It's hilarious and if you have seen it, you know what I mean.
Later, it turned out that my friends C and K had also watched it and when we knew that David Duchovny was coming to Esch, we didn't want to miss him. Most people who were at the gig weren't really there for the music; like us, they wanted to see the actor in person.
Throughout the concert he was funny and tried to speak French, while the audience kept correcting him. I felt that he was very much like Hank Moody. At one point he even said the famous 'MF' word.
Duchovny's got degrees from Princeton and Yale, he has won two Golden Globes, written books, he's been in Twin Peaks (one of my favourite shows ever), SATC and more. It's great that now he gets to make music, go on tour and live the rock star experience.
