I just got back from a nice dinner at Roof Garden, a rooftop restaurant at The Peninsula in Beverly Hills. The photo above shows the pool area, which is adjacent to the restaurant.
It was a bit chilly but thankfully they had heating lamps.
I was going to order the grilled salmon but when the waiter mentioned that their special was grilled shrimps with kale, I decided to have that instead, along with a glass of Italian Pinot Gris.
The salad was really delicious.
I hadn't planned on having dessert but then I saw this strawberry short cake on the menu and I wanted to have it. It consisted of sponge cake mixed with strawberry syrup, strawberries and whipped cream. The portion was huge but very easy to eat. I had an espresso with it.
From the pool area, you get a view of Century City, where I had visited the Annenberg Space for Photography earlier today.
Quite a few locals were having dinner there. I could tell because different parties seemed to know each other and the staff as well.
The service was top - as you would expect from a five star hotel. The service I often get in Luxembourg cannot be compared to US standards. In fact, it would be unacceptable over here. I can look forward to the terrible Lux service when I get back. For now, I enjoy the great dining experiences I'm having over here.
