Eating & sleeping | Ghent, Belgium

One should save the best for last but today I am going to break this rule and start with the best! My lunch experience at Sushi Palace was really excellent. The service was impeccable, the food was served promptly and it tasted so good. A memorable experience!
Thaitanee is, as the name suggests it, a Thai restaurant that I came across while looking for a place to eat. On New Year's Day, when most restaurants were shut, it seemed like a better dinner idea than take away fries from the kebab shop. The service was very friendly and quick. The food was decent.
Another place that I found whilst passing by: Den Hoek Af. It's a cosy cafĂ©, ideal for breakfast and brunch. I had a coffee with yogurt and muesli. It kept me full for almost six hours.
While the above outings were mainly positive, my dinner at this Turkish restaurant was disappointing. I ordered red wine and the waiter served white one; the hummus was the most tasteless I had ever eaten. My feta salad was huge but not memorable.

Lesson re-learned: if you fail to plan, plan to fail. To avoid bad surprises, it's always safer to have done some research before!
Now to the hotel: I stayed at the NH Belfort. When I arrived I found out that Booking had not passed on my reservation to the hotel although they had taken a prepayment. I was lucky to be given a room though. I stayed two nights at a standard new style double room. It was very spacious and comfortable but it could have been a little bit cleaner. The location was excellent though, very central and I got to keep my car safely in the hotel garage.

I should remember avoiding reading your posts in the afternoon, as now I am seriously starving! I always tend to plan in advance for my trips - it does not ensure always a great place, but most of the cases does. A pity for the Turkish experience.
