2016 Travel planning

This was going to be a post with a list of travel planning tips but while I was writing I realized that it pretty much sums up to this: Just do it! You set aside dates, you decide on a destination and you book the trip. And on D-Day, you show up. That's basically it. And if you want to get great deals, do all of this months in advance.

The other day I mentioned that one of my New Year's resolutions was to travel less. Well, I take that back. I am very much obessed with travel planning and I love to get out whenever I can, and the truth is that even if I tried to travel less, I don't think I would be able to.

It's just that I am very aware of the passing of time. And every year that I don't travel and thereby miss out on trips, are opportunities that I won't get back. Also, I don't attach my travels to external conditions such as: when I'm retired, when I am with a boyfriend / husband, whatever, when when when. Unlike other things in my life, I would say that travelling is one area where I almost never come up with excuses for not doing it. It's something I love and even if I wanted to do a bit less (because it is tiring!), I will go on because it's worth living for.

What are your travel plans for 2016?

  1. Your travel plans are absolutely amazing, thanks for sharing!

  2. One of my New Year's resolution would be to travel more. I am sure it is tiring, but it's so much fun. I really want to visit at least 3 countries I've never been to in 2016. We'll see if it's feasable, I really hope it is!

I love this post! It is so true, traveling is one of the greatest joys in this world. Seeing and meeting new people and places. Setting a date and doing it is a great tactic to get as much in as possible. And yes it is tiring, but so worth it! Xo, Ellese

  14. Traveling is my favorite! Cute post!

I love travel planning as well...we are thinking about Australia next year! The only problem is that there's never enough time to do it all ;)

  30. Oh, I loooove this post. I'm obsessed with travel too and will never ever pass up any opportunity. At some point when I was very young, I decided I would go anywhere in the world if given the chance and it's led me to some really amazing places in my lifetime.

I just booked 2 big trips for 2016 and though they are months away, I'm so excited to plan them! I would give up a lot of things if needed, but I would never resolve to travel less. I just think travel is one of those things that gets harder as we get older and have more responsibilities, health and family issues. We never know what will happen in the future so we have to seize the chance when it comes available to us.

    Happy travels in 2016!

    Love, Mary

  31. I agree with you. I don't like to attach my travels to external conditions as well. I just want to travel because I want it. I want to explore places. Actually my new year's resolution is to travel more. At least every month. Although I'm not planning anything grand like Italy, France, or even South America, I'm planning locally. Starting from my country the Philippines since we have 7,107 islands, and a few nearby Asian countries.

  32. I would LOVE to travel more in 2016. Since we have a little one at home it's been difficult to do much traveling this year, but now that she's a bit older, it should be more feasible!

  33. I love travelling. You should definitely pursue it whilst you can!

  34. My plan for 2016 is actually to try and travel more as I am not doing it as much as I used to. And I love traveling, exploring, seeing new things and learning others as well. x

  36. I love to travel! And travel planning even more so. I have planned out trips I want to take years from now haha. It's just fun :) (am I crazy? lol)

  37. I have decided to travel more in 2016, because even though i travel in 2015, it was mostly for work and I didnt get to explore. Already booked some tickets in advance since it is way cheaper.

  38. I would like to visit Australia!!!!

I'm really bad at the planning part, so I usually book things last minute. Last year I had trips planned well in advance (to South Africa and to United Arab Emirates) and then I did a few last minutes to Iceland and Mexico.

I want to stop over in London for a bit, explore Spain and finally make my way to Tokyo. I also want to go back on a safari but I'm not sure if it'll happen with a hectic work schedule.

This upcoming year I probably won't have much time to travel.. But I will definitely go back in Germany for a bit and explore more of the US :)

  43. Travelling is definitely something that I always put time for no matter what. It's such a refresh way to re-energize yourself, boost your mind to be more open and seeing what's going on out there away from your comfort zone. Thanks for sharing a lovely post.
