Moving on with my East Germany travel posts... Here are some photos of the hotel that I stayed at in Dresden: Taschenbergpalais Kempinski. The last time I stayed at a Kempinski hotel was during my time in Abu Dhabi (see here). This palace was less intimidating and it felt cosier.
I can only say positive things about my two-night stay: the staff at the front desk was welcoming and helpful, the room was very nice and I immediately felt at home. I loved the high ceiling and although the furniture was classic, it didn't feel stuffy. Something I had never had in any previous hotel room: two toilets. Of course, I can only use one at a time but it's useful when you are sharing the room with another person as I did in this case.
The hotel has a gym and an indoor pool but unfortunately I didn't have time to try them out. When I was researching hotels in Dresden, the Taschenbergpalais stood out right away and now I can see why. Location-wise it is in the city centre, right next to the castle and has a convenient underground car park, where I left my car while I was there. I definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who is planning on visiting Dresden.
