Primers: The Porefessional vs. Sephora Smoothing primer

In today's beauty post, I want to talk about primers. I have never really used any until a year or two ago. I discovered Benefit's The Porefessional through a sample that I was given, and I instantly became a fan. Then a few months ago, I was at Sephora and a sales assistant convinced me to try their smoothing primer. Now, how do these two primers compare and which one do I like best?

The Porefessional | Benefit
As the name suggests it, The Porefessional targets the minimization of pores. To a certain extent it keeps this promise and this is the reason why I was so impressed when I first used it. The appearance of pores is reduced, however, they don't disappear entirely. What I like less about this product is that I have the impression that it dries my skin and since it targets the pores, I only use it on the lower part of my cheeks.

Smoothing primer | Sephora
This primer works a bit like the Photoshop skin smoothing brush. I apply on the lower cheek part to reduce the pores, as well as on the forehead and a bit on the chin. It instantly smoothens the skin. Unlike The Porefessional, this gel is transparent and does not dry my skin out.

Conclusion: The Porefessional vs. Smoothing primer: 0-1.

What's your take on primers?

  1. I would love to try the Sephora primer as I was unimpressed with the Benefit one!

  2. I've only tried using primers on a few occasions before but never noticed it did any difference =\

  3. Agree with u, the Sephora one is just amazing and one of my fave, though I use it only for special occasions as primers could ruine the skin if used everyday! Happy Weekend Anouk! xo

  4. Seems good.I should try it.

  5. I have the Porefessional but don't use it ery much - if I wore it 3 times it was all, and it is Okish, not wow at all :) The Sephora one I don't know and now I want to try it!

  6. I've not used Sephora primer, but I have used The Professional and had the same result as you did. I currently use Hourglass and Clarins Instant smoother, which I love since it's quite light and goes on seamlessly.

  7. I know I should probably be using a primer more often but usually I'm just too lazy or forget. The Sephora one sounds nice.

  8. I haven't tried the Sephora primer but I agree that the Professional can be rather drying. I'm currently using a Smashbox green coloured primer to correct redness

  9. I have tried he Benefit one but now I really want to try the Sephora one

  10. I like using Primers. It really makes your make up last a long time. These products are worth a try.

  11. I am not sure I have used a primer. I'd take your advise into account if I decide to buy myself one.

  12. Geez that sounds like a no-brainer. I don't usually use primer myself, even though I have a few bottles myself. I never really found that I needed it, but these last few weeks I've felt compelled to dab some on. I don't have an issue with my NARS but I really love the sound of this Sephora primer. Will try to get my hands on some when I go over next.

  13. not much of a primer girl, but will definitely look into that sephora one! :D

    Have a great week!

  16. I have used the sephora's primer and it really is good!

  17. I used to love the Sephora one - I used it above all before a night out as it was helping keeping make up much longer - until I discovered the one from MakeUp forever. It is a small tube you can find next to the counters in Sephora, it is a bit cheaper, same kind of texture and above all it is really easier to use.. I found very difficult to use the Sephora ones when the bottles is starting to get to the end.. a lot of product wasted!

  18. Great post, thank you so much for sharing!
