Porto food experience: restaurants & cafés

Casinha Boutique Café

This café is located in Boavista and it was close to my hotel. It offers several delicious meal formulas and I particularly liked the brunch, which was huge! The setting is very nice and there is a terrace at the back for those who want to eat al fresco.

This restaurant is in the city centre and the food is excellent. The waiters were super friendly and fast as well. With hindsight it is probably the place where I experienced the most efficient service. If I had stayed longer in Porto, I would most likely have returned to Guarany.

This restaurant is also located in Boavista and it is part of the Hotel Porto Palacio. I liked the modern setting and the food was good. The service was also faster than average.

Arte da Baixa

This was the first time where I noticed that the service in Portugal can be a bit slow. One lady was even complaining because she had been waiting for ages for her meal. The food was fresh albeit a bit bland.

Arcadia - Chocolate House

Another café-restaurant located in Boavista. The food is alright but it does not measure up to the Casinha Boutique Café, which is only a stone's throw away.

Petisco da Liberdade

Before leaving Porto, I absolutely wanted to try the traditional dish Francesinha. I had a vegetarian version and it tasted great. This restaurant serves many different versions, including meat and fish ones. It is also very touristy but the food and service are excellent; therefore absolutely recommended!
