Weekend in Madrid

If you follow me on Instagram, you will have seen that I went to Spain for the weekend. It was a nice break away but with very high temperatures (I'm talking 35 degrees C / 95 degrees F) it was tough! Add to that a room without aircon... Lesson learned: ACs are not a given, even in hot cities. Not sure how I will survive Dubai in September. Friday evening and Sunday were spent in Madrid but on Saturday I went to Toledo for the day. I will share these pics in my next post.

  1. It must have been nice to take a weekend break to Spain but those high temps are no fun. We had 90 degree temps in NYC this past weekend as well and just being outside felt like being baked in an oven.

  4. Great pics Anouk, and your dress is perfect for travelling. You must have been baking! In Rome it was 34 degrees but luckily there was aircon even though it was a bit noisy in one of the hotels

  7. I loved your dress! I love your pictures in black and white! That is a very nice break, for sure, and you are right - no AC is not a choice in such a hot city! It's a must! I loved the pictures and I am looking forward to seeing the Toledo ones soon!

  8. Fantastic photos. You poor thing, no air conditioning? That's just awful. I can't believe that happened to you and in such terrible conditions. Wow!

  9. Oh my god. I can't even imagine how awful it'd be without AC! But it looks like you were still able to make the most of your trip to Spain! So jealous of your trip, but now I know not to go in the summertime!

  20. Love the photos - gorgeous as always! And I am sorry to hear about the heat - the room without an AC sounds like a challenge indeed... :( As for Dubai - my friend lived there for several years and she always said that pretty much every place has an AC, so fingers crossed, you will be alright. x

  24. Your weekend break looks fabulous in spite of the heat but it must have been so difficult trying to sleep without air con. It wlll still be very hot in Dubai in September but you will be prepared and there's AC everywhere.

  25. A hotel room in Spain without air conditioning? You poor thing! Although I'm sure you enjoyed yourself nevertheless! Your photos are wonderful by the way, especially the third and fourth :)

  35. Oh, going to Dubai in Sept? That would be interesting! Love your photos, I am sure it was an interesting weekend!

  36. So true. I remember Sicily 2 years ago. No aircon and it was the height of summer. I slept on the floor. The following day, I took the only electric fan available from the dining area. Don't worry about Dubai. It's completely modern and hi-tech, AC is centralised everywhere. They have to, coz it's hot all year round.

  37. It's the most annoying to be in a room without aircon when it's so hot out =\
I'm already looking forward to seeing your Dubai posts!

  38. O poor you, your face on that 1st photo says it all about not having an AC,good luck with Dubai, you'll be fine I'm sure they all have AC there,1st time to visit and I'm loving your blog already.
