While in Madrid last weekend, I went to Toledo for a day. It's a small city, rich with history, and it's only a thirty minutes train ride away from Madrid. I was told that after arrival there would be escalators to climb up to the city centre but I couldn't find them. It seemed like a joke. So in the heat, I walked all the way up. I spent the day wandering around the narrow streets, bought azulejos, visited the El Greco museum, and had a lovely lunch at La Fábrica de Harinas. And I must have seen like four or five wedding photo shoots. At the end of the day, I found out that the escalators did exist but I still didn't know where they were located. On my way down, leaving the city, they were no longer needed anyway. Toledo was definitely worth a visit.
