24 hours in New York

Hi from New York! I got here about 24 hours ago but it feels like I've been here for days. Yesterday it took me about four hours to get from the plane to the hotel. It took ages to get through the immigration line; I had to wait for ever for the subway train to arrive and it was freezing cold!

But the cool thing was that once I was on the train, somewhere in Brooklyn, Ethan Hawke and his son stepped into my carriage, and sat opposite me. I was a bit stunned at first and I kept on wondering whether I should ask him for a selfie but in the end I just did the same as the time I was sitting next to Venus Williams on a plane; I just pretended that I didn't realize who he was. But Boyhood is still on my to watch list!

In the evening I had dinner with a Luxembourgish friend in the West Village. Today I was just walking around Midtown and now I am going to see Wicked at the Gershwin Theatre. I will share more photos soon!

  1. You sat across from who?? Whoa I would have absolutely asked him at least for a trio selfie with his son in it lol. I guess the cool thing about NYC is you can often run into celebrities but then I bet most of the other people just act like they are one of them and it makes it hard to us to act differently! Enjoy your stay and stay warm! Look forward to see more pictures and hear more stories from you! <3

  2. So awesome you sat opposite to Ethan Hawke and his son!!! How you stayed cool and didn't ask for a selfie says a lot about your self-restraint

  15. Enjoy! I've had a crush on Ethan Hawke since Reality Bites, and was revived when I saw Before Sunset, Sunrise, and Midnight. I would have to think of a way to have a photo with him had I seen him on my carriage. Hahaha. Anyway, have loads of fun!

  17. So you went with the New Yorker approach to your celeb run-in then ;p That's what most people do here anyway. I actually get more excited when I spot foreign celebs in NYC than local ones. Hope you enjoyed Wicked.

  28. Wow you did what! You sat next to who! Holy cow, I am never that lucky. Except one time coming back from the US home I was seated beside an older lady who I thought might have been important. But I couldn't figure out who exactly. I don't know how you could remain so cool, I'd like to think I would be but I'd probably be such a nervous wreck I'd embarrass myself lol. Enjoy New York and that snow hehehe!

  30. Oh how I miss New York! It is so much fun! I do agree with you that you always feel as if you have been there longer than it has actually been. As for Ethan Hawke, that is very nice :D I would have at least talked to him - after all, he shared YOUR ride! :P anyway enjoy New York, and maybe next time you can come to Texas ;)

  36. That's such an amazing trip! And yes, I am looking forward to the new posts with photos! It always takes hours in NY, so big! And wow, you saw Ethan Hawke, it's a nice thing to share! I could picture you deciding "shall I ask or not?", a selfie, I mean. I don't know what I would have done... but it was nice what you did - they say "we are the same, only our professions give us more exposure". OK! I hope you have enjoyed Wicked!
