Le Freeport in Senningerberg, Luxembourg

A couple of days ago I had the chance to be part of a group to visit the recently opened Le Freeport in Senningerberg. It is a state of the art highly secured storage place and trading platform for high value goods, such as fine art, wine and vintage cars amongst others.

In order to get in, we had to show our passports and pass an airport-style screening. We were accompanied by a security man throughout the entire visit. He could open all doors with his badge and fingerprint.
The super impressive main hall was the only area where photography was allowed. We also got to ride in one of their gigantic lifts and we saw one of the storage rooms. It was very interesting to learn about the security of the site, the types of clients that are seeking these storage facilities and why Luxembourg is an ideal location.
I don't have any art or cars to store or trade there but I am glad to have had the chance to see this impressive site.

The visit was organized by House 17 for its members.

  7. This is amazing, and what an awesome opportunity to see this. Though I'd be a little uneasy having to navigate this with a security guard!
