ABBA, Skansen, Vasa, Moderna Museet (Stockholm museums)

The first record I ever owned was by ABBA and as a child I would play their music on repeat. When I found out that there was an ABBA museum in Stockholm, it was clear that I didn't want to miss out on it.

My next stop was the open air Skansen museum and zoo. It is one of the most beautiful little places on earth. It's where the world is whole, where you can forget about all your problems and there is no suffering.
I was looking for Ulla Windbladh restaurant but couldn't find it. I then ate lunch at the café at Lilla Hasselbacken where I had the most delicious salmon and spinach lasagne ever.

Next up was a visit to one of the most popular museums in Stockholm: the Vasa Museum. It tells the miraculous story of the ship that sank in the 17th century and was recovered in an almost intact state more than three hundred years later. It's a fascinating story and without a doubt a must-see.
My last museum stop of the day was the Moderna Museet (modern art museum) because I wanted to see the Fritsch Koons Ray exhibition "Sculpture After Sculpture". Funnily DSLR photography was not allowed while taking photos with the mobile phone was.
And this concludes my Stockholm posts. It was great to visit this special city again. As a child I watched all the movies inspired by Astrid Lindgren's books and if I visit Sweden again, I would really like to see more of the countryside. Good reasons to go back.

So now tell me, what is your favourite ABBA song? Mine is Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight).

  1. Nice photos! Stockholm is beautiful!! Thanks for sharing some pieces of it here. I think the very first cassette tape we have was from ABBA! I used to play it and sing along to each songs. My favorite would be Dancing Queen. :p
