Weekend in Rome

Finally I'm finding the time to post photos of my weekend trip to Rome. Again it was really nice to escape to the south and have a bit of a holiday feeling.
It was very hot on Saturday and Sunday. This could have been the last chance to wear my summer clothes.
I didn't do any intensive sightseeing because that's what I did eight years ago I when I spent five days in Rome. I'm quite happy about that because a weekend is too short to see most highlights and at the moment quite a few top sites are being renovated, such as the beautiful Trevi Fountain.
Here I am with the guys I know from Madrid. It was great fun to hang with them again.
On Sunday we walked by the Colosseum and the Forum Romanum. It was so hot that it was almost unbearable to be out.
We had lunch at a great pasta place, L'Archetto.
It was quite easy to pick a starter: various bruschette. Settling for a main course was a bit more time consuming. The restaurant specializes in spaghetti with all kinds of different sauces. The menu contained nine pages of spaghetti variations.
I had four cheese spaghetti and I loved it. If I could to eat this every day for the rest of my life, I would be happy!

The weekend was over too quickly. Although I thoroughly enjoyed it, I have to say that travelling three weekends in a row has exhausted me. I am now looking forward to spending more time at home.

  10. Your way with photography is so dreamy Anouka. I've been thinking of Italy for a while now, these awesome shots are not helping my wanderlust pangs lol. Especially the ruins. I have such a fascination with the past and uncovering old architecture and stuff!

  14. Your lovely photos brought back happy memories of our trip to Rome a few years ago. It's such an easy city to explore on foot which I like. Nine pages of spaghetti! I think I would have opted for the four cheese variation in spite of all the choice!

  15. Rome is the only place in Italy I haven't been to (well, and many more) and I really want to visit soon! Look at the streets, palms everywhere, hot weather and delicious food - exactly what I need in my life!

  16. I was in Rome and I have unforgettable memories from the time I spent there. At the first sight I didn't recognized Fontana di Trevi and after reading your post I understand that it is under renovation. In Rome it is my favorite place there, even if it is always very crowded! The pictures are all great and I recognized almost each place! Oh, I miss traveling!
