Seeing the sights (Berlin Day 5)

My attempt at taking a selfie with my SLR... not that easy! Still need practising.

Day five: I started off with a nice salmon bagel at Coffee Fellows. I got a ticket for the TV Tower and I was surprised to find out that the waiting time was going to be four hours and a half!

I walked around Alexanderplatz...

... where I learned that Easter markets are the new Christmas markets.

The Nikolaiviertel is a really nice area with old houses and looks like a movie set.

With so much time to kill, I visited the DDR (GDR) Museum.

The DDR Museum is one of my favourite attractions in Berlin and I would really recommend it if you ever visit. For most of us it is just unimaginable how it must have been to live in East Germany.

Up next was a visit to the Pergamon Museum. A must for antiquities lovers.

After a short ice cream break, I went back towards the TV Tower.

I had to wait another hour before it was my turn to go up.

But the view was pretty cool.

I could see my hotel (left side of Unter den Linden)

On my way back to the hotel, I stopped at Lindner's for a asparagus quiche. My taste buds are pretty weak and only halfway through I realized that I had mistaken ham for anchovies! Of course, I removed the remaining piece of meat.

  7. Coffee Fellows is great! I first went there in Trier and loved it! Also the DDR museum must be so interesting! When I was in Belgium last weekend we also went to an open air museum where they had a 60s museum but unfortunately we didn't enter :/
Anyway happy Easter to you and your family :)

  8. I actually really like your selfie. You look very natural and pretty. Good job on the eye make up portion! It's a bit flirty but not too much! <3

  9. You are so beautiful, Anouk! Are those freckles? #girlcrush

I love Berlin, it's one of the nicest places in Europe, it has so much charisma. Last time I was there I visited the DDR Museum by chance and I was really happy I did. Every object has a story behind it, it impressed me a lot. Not sure if you've watched it already but "Goodbye Lenin" also portrays the period really well, too.

  10. Cute selfie! I didn't notice that you had freckles before, but I can see it now in the selfie you took and it's cute. It seems like you had a museum-filled day :)

    1. Yes, I have freckles even though I try to hide them...

  11. cutie! lovely selfie and interesting museum, I was laughing at the nudity explanation! lol

  15. The DDR Museum looks really interesting. Beautiful photos as always..looks like you had a wonderful trip!

  16. Oh, communism... I don't want to read about it nor talk about it. I'd rather go to the Pergamon Museum. The view from the tower is breathtaking. One of the pictures reminds me a lot of the view from the Ferris wheel in Vienna. You are very beautiful on the 1st pic! Please share when you find out how to take a selfie with SLR. :)

  17. You look beautiful! Your blog always makes me want to pack a bag immediately.

  18. Really loving your selfies! The view of Berlin from the top looks amazing and your photography is always so spot on! xoxo ES
