Ai Weiwei (Berlin Day 7)

On my final day, following the suggestion of two friends, I visited Ai Weiwei's Evidence exhibition at the Martin-Gropius-Bau.

I managed to snap a few pics before being told that photography was not allowed. The background behind every piece is very significant and the exhibits have a much deeper meaning when taking this information into account.

After the exhibition I met a Berlin blogger, Rae who has a blog called Love from Berlin. I really wanted to meet her because we shared the same fate when we were young.

We met at Kaffeemitte in Weinmeisterstrasse and it was really interesting to hear about her life so far and her plans for the future.

I had some time to spare before catching my flight back to Luxembourg. I had dinner at Hans im Glück, a burger restaurant in near Friedrichstrasse. I was really surprised to discover that they had so many vegetarian burgers (at least six or seven).

I had an olive tomato burger with Italian cheese and fries as side. Totally worth it!

  4. The exhibition looks very expensive and interesting. I liked the place with the chairs but the snake head really impressed me! It's very nice that you met a fellow blogger. This is a great way to find new friends. I'll check her blog out! Your pictures of Luxembourg city are very good! I never manage to catch a city from the air. And it seems that Lux city is not so small as I thought.

    1. It was very inspiring as it was a mix between art, politics, and technology. The minimalist visual impact was quite impressive and there was an enormous lot of food for thought (and action).

  8. Good that you were at least able to "sneak" in a few shots before being told about no photography (I don't understand why it isn't allowed though?). The intricate details on the dragon and snake heads are pretty awesome. Glad you had such an inspirational visit!

I have thought about spending a long weekend in Berlin for a while now but having followed all your posts I realise that maybe we would need a few extra days (or I suppose visit twice!) A tasty looking burger!

  30. The exhibit looks really awesome and it is always great to learn new things from such exhibitions. It is cool you got to meet another blogger. Sometimes these Internet friendship turned true friendship is amazing. The vegetarian burger looks yummy! I tried some vegetarian burgers before and I'm surprised at the texture of the "meat". I always wonder how they did vegetarian stuff with texture almost like meat.

I'm gonna read though all your Berlin posts now to catch up!'
