Gangnam

On Sunday I tried a new Korean restaurant Gangnam in Esch. I went with a group of Luxembourg Koreans and some of them were very familiar with this type of cuisine. In their opinion the food was very good, much better than at Kimchi, which is a rip off compared to this place.

Above are the starters that we ordered to share.

Then we had sushi on the house.

We all ordered barbecue as a main course.

I chose the prawn barbecue since I don't eat meat.

There were plenty of side dishes that came with it.

I was told that it's common in Korea to take large salad leaves, add sides, mains and sauce onto it, wrap it and then eat it with your hands.

The lunch lasted almost four hours and after the digestif, it was time to pay the bill and roll home. I will certainly be back at some point soon because my mum has always wanted to try Korean food.

  2. Just the name made me smile, would love to go there. 4 hours? Oh my, I would really roll after, but you know, even though Im Italian, I found out that this is the kind of cuisine I love most. All the dishes look very good and also very good quality. Kisses Anouka, have a goodnight! xo

  3. I've never tried Korean cuisine before, what is it like and are there many vegan options? The prawns look pretty good! I enjoyed reading your opinion on my last post. Happy Friday Dear!

    1. Vegan/vegetarian options are unfortunately few! If I wasn't pescetarian, it would have been tricky to pick a dish.

  4. That's a really cute logo for the restaurant! Sushi on the house? That's amazingggg *___*

This restaurant looks a bit more upscale then a lot of the restaurants that I'm used to, but the food also looks a bit more scrumptious.

  5. Gangnam=江南 which also means "South of the River". It's a kind of lifestyle mostly referring to affulent ladies who lunch lol (I think?)
Anyway my favourite thing about authentic Korean food is the side dishes! I also love the BBQ especially when I'm really hungry because the food is so filling and makes you feel warm and happy in the tummy :)

  20. Looks great, and very similar to the Japanese Teppanyaki style of eating. I love those little love heart dishes they've served the sauces in!
