On Thursday evening I went to the Plataforma dance show. The reviews on Tripadvisor are pretty bad, as people are claiming that it's outdated and the location is rundown. Someone even wrote that it was 'off West End or Broadway'.
Personally, I think that the experience had character and a history to it and if it hadn't changed since the 1970s, as some reviewers suggested, then I enjoyed it for that, as it was the closest that I got to the Barry Manilow Copacabana feeling.
I only felt ripped off when I had to pay 230 Reales when the regular price was in fact 160 Reales. But that's what it is when you book via your five star hotel. (The same was by the way true for the other excursions that I had gone on.)
The costumes were impressive and entertainment was ongoing. The one hour and a half went by very fast.
To those who are seeking West End and Broadway type shows, I say, you know where to go.
At the end of the show the MC gave a shout-out to the different countries that were represented in the audience. Of course he failed to mention my small Luxembourg, so I got up walked towards the stage and I did the shout-out myself in front of everybody. I don't think I would have done it if I hadn't drunk three caipirinhas!
This was my dinner: caipirinha and French fries.
