Beady Eye at Rockhal

On Friday Beady Eye (Oasis minus Noel Gallagher) were performing at Rockhal. Oasis are still my favourite band (after all these years) and nothing would have stopped me from attending this gig.

Unfortunately I had missed the support act, DJ Paul Gallagher, who is Liam's and Noel's oldest brother. But in typical Luxembourg fashion, when you arrive five minutes before the main act starts, you still get to be close to the stage. Try this in London. The public is quite reserved, shy (or maybe lack energy and enthusiasm?) and prefers to stand at the back. Maintaining your personal space takes priority.

Beady Eye played songs from their first two albums and two Oasis songs: Wonderwall and Cigarettes and Alcohol

There were no major incidents. At some point Liam got annoyed at a fan who kept throwing their jacket onto the stage. Other than that, the band played the full concert and even gave one encore. Sadly, they didn't do Live Forever, which they have at other BE gigs.

The reserved crowd. It makes you wonder what great acts think when they visit and they see the motionless Luxembourg crowd. They don't dance, don't get crazy drunk, don't sing and just stand there with arms either crossed or their hands in their pockets. It's embarrassing!

Hopefully one day my ultimate dream will come true: Oasis will reform and play in Luxembourg.

  1. Cool Friday night! Yes, sometimes when at a concert and when everybody is just standing, I feel sorry for the acts. I like that you don't care standing in the front rows or going to the scene and shouting out you country name (two weeks ago). Hope you had a great time at the concert!

  2. I love these kinds of concerts! It's not a small crowd but not a huge one either! That makes it easier to connect with the band :D

  7. Hahaha well that would never happen in Oz. Most people have to to get there hours before if you want to get close enough to the stage. I am never that prompt and always get there a tad later hahaha!

  12. Hi Anouka, the concert sounds like an amazing experience, I was surprised to see the crown so emotionless, but being to certain countries in Asia, i noticed the same thing at shows, have you noticed this too? Here in SA, they can get pretty loud, embarrassingly drunk and rowdy, lol. so I guess its better to be the opposite.

  14. I think it is also embarrassing to have a reserved crowd and it is kind of the same thing here in Munich.
I like Oasis and even more when I was in my teens but this is a great post Anouka!

  18. Looks like a great night out. There is something special about live music especially when it's a favourite band. The audience looks so still! I suppose the bands get used to the different audiences as they travel around.
