Goodbye City of Angels

On Sunday, after some shopping in Beverly Hills, I had lunch at The Ivy

I ordered a banana/strawberry cocktail, which was more like a smoothie and had a tough time choosing from their vast menu.

I selected the Caesar salad...

... and the shrimp tacos on homemade tortillas with Mexican beans and rice.

There was so much food that I could not eat it all. The restaurant was very busy but the staff were, nevertheless, very attentive and polite. The Ivy is, just like its namesake in London, a pricier restaurant. I think that the London restaurant was an inspiration for the LA one, but other than that they are not related.

In the afternoon, I did what I enjoy a lot (also in Luxembourg): drive around LA. Call me weird...

In the evening I had dinner at Spago, owned by Wolfgang Puck, a celebrity chef. As I got there, a couple of paparazzi were waiting outside. Well, they weren't waiting for me, that's for sure.

Even though I was still full from the huge lunch, I had a mushroom and cheese risotto...

... followed by a salmon steak. It was very dark, hence the bad photos.

I had a cosy place right next to the fire in the covered patio area.

The next day, I was sad to leave for cold Luxembourg (where it started snowing on Thursday) but I will return back to LA in a year. I hope.

  2. Why weird? I also enjoy driving around the city. It's so relaxing! But to be honest, I have only done it in my country, probably it is awesome doing it at a new place.

  7. Those are very nice restaurants. The shrimp taco must taste so good. L.A. is a driving City. It's the only way to really see it and discover it.
