Top of the Rock (NY VI)

I was queueing to buy a ticket to the top of the Rockefeller Center. The gentleman in front of me was picking up his tickets. His friend had not turned up and he offered me the spare ticket. He refused to take any cash from me in return. I was a bit baffled, but in a positive way.

As you can see, I am now watermarking my photos. Recently I found some of my restaurant photos on TripAdvisor without crediting me as the owner or linking back to my site. I wouldn't have minded if someone had asked for permission but if you don't ask and take, then I have them removed.

Also, several months ago I stopped using Pinterest. First of all, I never really got into it. But then I have also seen bloggers publish photos that they found on that site and then credit the source simply as "Pinterest". Not cool. Let me know what you think.

Now some better news: I've been playing around with tumblr. for the past few days and I've created a second blog named lxsd. Instead of continuing the Take five series here, I will break them down into short and frequent posts on lxsd. I will occasionally share photos from my Instagram and publish random ramblings in between. Once in a while I may also post photos that were not taken by me but I will always ensure that the correct source is mentioned and linked back to.

Have a great weekend!

  2. I don't blame you, it's such a shame when people steal other's photos! That was so sweet of that man, it's little acts of kindness that mean so much :) Beautiful scenic photos!

  3. That is a good idea, Anouka! I find your photos really beautiful so they are worthy to get watermarked because some other might take it as theirs which is uncool! :P

  4. It is a good idea to watermark your work! I once found out my photos were used for an online seller without permission as well. I'm still not water marking like I should but I thought since I'm not a huge popular blog it does not matter that much to me :D
Ok off to check out your second blog :)

  6. Regarding bracelets over long sleeves in the winter time, hey, not a bad idea!! I know Luxemburg probably gets way colder than Portland (haha) so if you can make bracelets over long sleeves work I should be able to also! :)
Yes (high five) let's enjoy summer!

  11. Wow, what an amazing view! And so nice of the gentleman to offer you his spare ticket :)
Of course stealing pics is a big issue nowadays and I try to add the sources whenever I know it. Ech hun virun kurzem héieren, datt een schon bei der Kamera sou eng Art Copyright astellen kann mee éischtens wees ech net wéi daat geet an 2. brengt daat mengen ech net sou vill well een sech schon mat den Informatiounen vum Bild beschäftegen muss iert een dann gesäit ween d´Foto gemaach huet. Een Watermark ass do schon méi offensichtlech...

  14. Oh lucky you Anouka! You were at the right place at the right time.
Regarding watermarking your photos (which are great by the way), you've got every right to do so. It's rude to not credit sources. I may have to do the same one day soon if necessary.
    Have a lovely weekend!

  15. It's the same with tumblr, people take photos from them and just say that's the source. It's horrible but it happens - watermarking your pictures is a good idea! These look stunning by the way.

  17. Wow, wow, wow! The view is breathtaking! Oh Tumblr! Hope it goes well! I've always tried to do one but never finished through with it :(

The 50mm lens I got for my photos so far have been the EF 50mm f/1.8 II. It's a fixed lens and I only use it for quick trips. But if you're looking for a better macro type lens try the EF 100mm
    f/2.8 Macro USM - my favorite! :)

  21. Wow!! This is such a breathtaking view!! You wre very lucky in getting that spare ticket! =)
I think it is very annoying when people take your photos without properly sourcing. It is good that you are putting a watermark on them now! I have never thought about people taking my photos, but maybe a watermark for me is good as well. I hope no one takes it without sourcing me!
