Hakkasan New York


Hakkasan New York is a Michelin-starred restaurant in Midtown Manhattan that opened a year ago. Inspired by an advert, I wanted to give it a try. 

I had the restaurant week lunch and chose following three dishes: the Hakka steamed dim sum selection, the braised tiger prawn claypot and the summer dessert.

Eating the dim sum was quite a challenge because they were huge and kept slipping off the chopsticks. The prawns were served with a bowl of rice. The dessert was a piece of peach cake adorned with a meringue stick and a couple of champagne honey drops. The portions look small but I didn't leave hungry. 

I was very happy with the food and the service. If you want to see the stunning decor, you can have a look here. The only thing that briefly bothered me was a long blond hair lying on the table. It certainly wasn't mine.

  20. I'd struggle even more than you-I am hopeless with chopsticks :) It's a shame about the hair in such a high-standard restraunt but it sounds like the food was up to the hype!
