On Saturday I had dinner with three friends at the Italian restaurant Basta Così in Luxembourg City. Our starter were three antipasti to share: bruschetta, grilled vegetables and fried prawns. The platter looks good but there could have been a bit more food on it. Our main courses came in generous sizes though.
Garganelli with buffalo mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, garlic and olive oil.
Mezzi rigatoni with aubergine, capers, olives and tomato sauce.
Insalata al formaggio caprino: green salad, goat cheese toasts and balsamic vinegar.
Sabayon with fresh fruit and ice cream.
Profiteroles filled with Nutella cream.
Several years ago I frequently ate at Basta Cosi. It is in my opinion still a safe bet; their pasta and pizza are usually very good. Their menu is more original than other Italian restaurants that I have been to in Luxembourg. I do not know of any other places that offer panzerotti and focaccia. I wouldn't rate them the best Italian in Lux City though; Dal Notaro still tops my personal list.
After dinner we wandered around the city and stopped at Urban for a last drink. The weather was great (it doesn't happen very often) and many people were out (another rarity).
On our way back to the car park, we briefly stopped at Place Guillaume to look at a concert. It was not that captivating and so we quickly went home.
