Eurovision Song Contest preview

On Saturday I attended a preview of the 58th Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) that will be held in Malmö next month.

The event took place at the Cultural Centre in Bivange. 39 videos were shown and the audience could cast their personal votes.

It turned out that my personal favourites are:
  1. Slovenia
  2. Greece
  3. Moldova
  4. Denmark
  5. Romania

The most fun part of the evening was when each member of the audience read out their personal votes. They were added to a big table which then revealed the most popular song...

... it was Denmark's "Only Teardrops"

I will, of course, watch the ESC final on 18 May to find out who the official winner will be. Some of the songs and performers are cheesy and kitsch but that makes it also highly entertaining.

Will you follow this event?

  13. Omg omg omg Anouka you have noooo idea how popular Eurovision is here in Malta. It's quite a funny and sad situation actually, in Malta there are very limited opportunities in ShowBiz so this contest is extremely important for many artists. We came close to winning it three times, but lately we are only getting poor to average results! Watching Eurovision is not a choice in Malta, it's a must, pfff how annoying haha. But I have to admit I do enjoy it, I attend the local contest almost every year, just for fun :)
